Launch of Sabah MM2H Programme
Sabah officially launched its own MM2H programme on July 1, 2024, offering a 10-year residency permit to successful applicants. The programme is tailored to attract foreign participants by providing multiple entry visas and the opportunity to own property in Sabah.
Delegation of Authority
On August 28, 2024, the Federal Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MOTAC) formalized the delegation of power to the Sabah State Government, granting it full authority to implement and manage the Sabah-MM2H programme. This move allowed Sabah to establish its own terms and conditions, process applications, and issue MM2H passes independently.
Programme Relaunch with Revised Criteria
In December 2024, the Sabah MM2H programme was relaunched with revised criteria aimed at attracting more foreign participants. The updated programme offers multiple entry visas for a minimum of 5+5 years and allows participants to own property in Sabah with a minimum purchase price of RM600,000. Additionally, the programme introduces three categories of applications—Silver, Gold, and Platinum—each with different levels of financial commitment.
Sabah's Tourism, Culture, and Environment Minister, Datuk Seri Christina Liew, announced at Magellan Sutera Harbour on 14/02/2025 that the state aims to attract at least 500 applicants to its Sabah-Malaysia My Second Home (Sabah-MM2H) program in 2025.
